The Body Fat Calculator uses the US Navy circumference method to estimate your body fat percentage. This method requires measurements of your neck, waist, and (for women) hip circumference along with your height.

The US Navy formula is widely used because it provides a reasonable estimate without specialized equipment. For men, it uses neck and waist measurements; for women, it also includes hip circumference for greater accuracy.

Body fat percentage is a more meaningful indicator of fitness than weight alone. Essential fat is 2-5% for men and 10-13% for women. Athletes typically have 6-13% (men) or 14-20% (women), while fitness-level ranges are 14-17% (men) or 21-24% (women).
