About This Tool
Volume Converter translates between litres, millilitres, cubic metres, US gallons, imperial gallons, fluid ounces, cups, pints, and quarts. Volume units are notoriously inconsistent across cooking, science, and engineering.
US and imperial measurements share names but differ in value โ a US gallon (3.785 L) is not the same as an imperial gallon (4.546 L). Using the wrong one in fuel economy or brewing calculations leads to significant errors.
Tip: For cooking, note that a US cup is 240 mL while a metric cup used in Australia and Canada is 250 mL. That 4% difference matters in baking where ingredient ratios are precise.
