About This Tool
Image to Base64 converts any local image file into a Base64-encoded string entirely within your browser. No file is ever sent to a server—your images stay private and the conversion is instantaneous regardless of file size.
The tool displays the full data URI (ready to embed in HTML or CSS), the raw Base64 string (for APIs or JSON payloads), and a live preview of the uploaded image. It also reports the original file size and the length of the resulting string so you can gauge the overhead of embedding.
Copy buttons beside each output let you grab the data you need with a single click. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, and BMP.
